Résumé Written On Diapers?!

Was doing some research and I chanced upon this interesting article;
Résumé Written On Diapers.
It was written in Chinese so here's the translation.
In China, there was this 27 years old lady, who was interested to work in the advertising industry but had no prior related work experience. When she told her friends about changing her job, they laughed and discouraged her.
Despite her friends' demoralising, she was unfaltered. She mailed parcels to several top advertising companies. Inside each parcel, was a diaper with her résumé written on it.
And guess what, most of the companies contacted her and arranged for an interview after sensing her creativity. When the interviewer asked her the 'story' behind this diaper creativity.
She replied: In this advertising industry, I am like a baby. But like a diaper, I can aborb and learn fast.
Today, she is a creative director in a one of the top advertising company in China =)

Finale May Issue is Out

File Hosting Online Storage Backup
This will be the last issue of The Kiasu Times E-mag.
The PDF format will cease but our Blog and Facebook Group will carry on.
The reason is because I will be involved in various small and huge projects in the upcoming months. The projects will consume too much time disallowing me to handle the E-mag at the same time =(

Interview with Noor Mohammed

It’s my honour to meet up with Mr Noor Mohammed, the founder of Success Nation.
Though we had only a short period of time to interact, I could sense the burning passion and energy in him. Let’s us witness this rising star’s Journey to becoming a Millionaire in a year!!
Garuto: An introduction of yourself
Noor: My name is Noor Mohammed. I just turned 24 and i perform 2 roles.
As a Personal Growth Coach:
I support people to tap into their inner power, and discover their greatness
which allows them to live free from the opinion of other people and to
create clarity, certainty and focus in achieving their desires.
As a New Media Specialist
I work with social entrepreneurs, charities, and other professionals looking
to build their online reputation and audience using blogs, podcasts
(audio and video), membership sites and social media. I set up their blog
and help them to create appropriate keywords and other techniques that
will ensure they get found by their target market.
I am a second year Business student in NUS. I've taken a 1 year leave of
absence so i can focus on developing my business and focus on achieve
Garuto: Talk about your quest in becoming a millionaire by 31st December 2010 and motivation behind.

Noor: What would it be like to watch somebody during the inception of a dream?
That is what i want to inspire in people through my journey. That’s the reason why i am recording my daily video log of my journey to a million every step of the way.
The most important thing about achieving a million dollars is creating a millionaire mindset.
Most people would think that if you set up a big business and work very hard, you will be able to earn a million dollars. But the fact is that you might lose the million dollars just as easily. If you look at lottery winners, they can win a couple of million dollars and within a few years most of them go broke and a lot even end up in debt.
That’s because their money blueprint is set for low. But if you look at someone like Donald trump, he can be in hundreds' of million dollars in debt and he can still rise out of it a billionaire. Cause his money blueprint is set for high. So it doesn’t matter if he loses all of his money again, he will still be able to earn it back.
If you take a millionaire and put him in a random country, within a few months or years he will be able to get rich, cause he knows how! And his money blueprint is set for high.
Garuto: What’s your view in using Facebook and YouTube as marketing tools.
Noor: The reason I’m using Facebook and YouTube as a marketing tool is first because it’s completely free.
And it’s so much more effective than anything else! Facebook has close to 400 million users and recently it’s been said that Facebook is going to be bigger than Google. YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world and it’s a great place to upload my daily videos logs. Since it’s free and has such a large viewership it makes the perfect medium to upload my videos and log my daily journey.
Garuto: You are still studying in NUS, will it affect your studies while pursuing your goal?
Noor: Yup i am still studying in NUS, but i have taken a 1 year leave of absence to pursue my dreams.
Most of my friends and family are asking me why don't i finish my studies first and then pursue my goals.
Why can't i pursue my goals first? I believe if you really want something you should go out and get regardless of what other people think and say. If you want it really bad enough, and work for it, you will get it!
Garuto: Education ... your take on education, are paper qualifications compulsory to become rich in life?
Noor: I honestly feel that education is important. But paper qualifications are not. In Singapore everyone is looking for paper qualification. Most of my friends believe the more paper qualifications you have, the more successful you are.
But i think that not the case. Look at most of the successful people out there who have their own business. Most of them don't even have a degree. Of course if you want to get a good job, you should have paper qualifications. But I’m not looking for a job :)
Garuto: Who is your idol?
Noor: I have various Idols. Namely Anthony Robbins, T Harv Eker, Les Brown. All of them started from nothing.
Garuto: If there is one thing you can change in the world, what will it be?
Noor: I would change how people think about their lives. I want
people to realize how great they actually are. I want people to realize
how much potential they have and how big a difference they can
make in the world. That they don't need to settle for something
less than they deserve.
Most importantly i want people, especially young people to realize
that they are great and they can achieve anything they want in life.
Garuto: How are you going to spend your fortune after 31st December?
Noor: I'm not going to spend my fortune, i would rather invest it.
I'm planning in investing in other business ideas. For example I’m
planning to set up this business which incorporates giving back to
the community. I want to give back to the 3rd world countries.
Kids who have no resources to learn. I want to make them realize
what they are capable of becoming.
Garuto: To finish it off, an inspirational quote for our readers.
Noor:
"Our current circumstances do not reveal your true nature.
It only reveals your current state of thinking."
Rise up to your greatness !

Earth Hour Entry

http://earthhour.wwf.sg
A backdated entry on Earth Hour>>
Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million homes and businesses turned their lights off for one hour to make their stand against climate change. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries participating. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome's Colosseum and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.
In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world's largest global climate change initiative.
Earth Hour 2010 takes place on Saturday 27 March at 8.30pm (local time) and is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community throughout the world. It is a call to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Europe to Asia to the Americas will stand in darkness. People across the world from all walks of life will turn off their lights and join together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common - our planet
---------------------------------------------------------
There was this online contest where contestants submit their most creative ideas on how we can reduce our impact on the environment.
http://earthhour.wwf.sg/contest_listing.php
Some submitted entries are pretty interesting and some are just repeating itself...
I have contributed a 'creative' entry and also asked Duh Vinci(one of my writers) to give his point of view.
(80 words limitation in the contest)
Garuto:
''This idea will blow off everyone's mind. Generate energy power from human activities. Mini dynamos built in doors, shoes, car wheels, windows...etc They already exist but not at great scale. Just take shoes for example, if every step you(billions of you) make can generate one watt of electricity. How many steps do you take a day?''
This idea of coverting kinectic energy to electricity has a very big impact in commercial value.
Imagine, 2 top sports shoe brands in the world. If one of the brand succeeded to implement dynamos in all their shoes.(The technical part is quite simple: when the dynamo has gathered enough stored energy it can be transfered to a charging point in office or home to release the energy. Or be used right away charging handphones or laptops on the go.)
Cutting down perhaps 25% of electricity bills every month.
Which brand of shoes will you prefer to buy?
Duh Vinci:
Garuto's idea of using kinectic energy by human activities is very feasible. But not polictically executable because of oil revenues involving countries and oil magnates . If a new energy supply
comes into the world market, it must fatten their pockets and not lessen.
The introduction of solar energy is the biggest example. Solar panels are actually easy to produce nowadays but in order to 'cover up' loss of profits. The installation must be quoted at a'reasonable price'.
Just to add on - my own 'feasible' idea to anyone who really care about the Earth survival.
DV: There are many other sources of ways to generate electricity other than burning fossil fuels.
Nowadays, we have solar, wind, hydro, nuclear energy. Tapping energy from a never ending souce like fluactuating sea waves, one very good example which I like is 'A wave "snake" floating in the sea off the coast of Portugal has passed its first test as a new commercial energy innovation for clean power.'
http://www.dailyplanetmedia.com/more_stories.php?id=3598&mode=3
Something Singapore can consider since it is surrounded by water. One energy that no one ever dare to think of is Sound energy. If all the noise pollution from road traffic, construction sites, neighbours shouting and mahjong playing can be converted into electricity. We do not have to worry about high electricity bills anymore haha.

My Virgin Studio Shoot

Had a fun morning doing my 1st studio shoot with Photographer Ivan Joshau Loh.
An award winning photographer from Singapore; Ivan Loh is known for his quirky and
different approach through his lens. He had received numerous accolades from the International Photography Awards, New York. Most recently he was also a Honourable Winner of 2009's PX3, Prix De La Photographie Paris. PX3 is Europe's biggest and most prestigious photography competition.
Ivan started shooting since his teenage years with his father's Nikon SLR and he hasn't stopped since. Ivan has lensed campaigns for clients such as SIngapore Airlines, MTV Asia, Nike, Raffles Hotel, CHIMJES, DHL, TNT, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Tuas Power, HDB, CAAS, Nikon, NTU and SCGS. His editorial works have appeared in magazines such as Her World, Cleo, FHM, and Home and Decor. His works have also glossed the pages of international magazines such as Asian Photography and Digital Photography of UK.
Currently, Ivan is in the midst of capturing people from all walks of life in his usual quirky and sometime very bold style. Every picture makes a real statement. In this issue of The Kiasu Times, I have the privilege to feature some of his works. Till today, he has completed about 50 personalities. Some of these photos have already been awarded an Honourable Mention Award at the 2009 International Photography Award. Ivan hopes to shoot about 200 personalities for his collection and who knows; he might contact you to be his model......
